OEM intercooler systems are usually inadequate to sustain low air temperatures under aggressive driving situations. Plastic intercooler end caps and smaller, plastic tubing with rubber couplers often supplied by the factory will quickly get drenched in heat and are slow to dissipate it. Excessively high intake air temperatures results in huge power drops and poor performance, with increased risk of engine detonation. When power is raised above stock levels, the issue becomes even more prevalent.

Skunk2's large, 100% aluminum intercooler kits flow much higher volumes of air than their factory counterparts, and act as better heat sinks to reduce intake air temperatures too. The included aluminum tubing further increases air flow and aids in temperature reduction due to better heat dissipation versus the stock pieces.
