Most HKS Camshafts are sold individually to allow tailoring the cams to match your power goals and other modifications.

HKS knows one of the best ways to make big power is through adding high performance camshafts to your Nissan 240SX. HKS Cams start out as a billet of high nickle steel alloy, not a reground factory core, which means you get exact profile specs and a cam that is capable of withstanding even the most grueling racing conditions. Each camshaft by HKS is CAD designed for specific duration and lift for each application, not one profile that gets passed from one motor to another as some cams are. This gives the widest powerband and highest gains possible. Each cam is designed to be compatible with the stock valvetrain, but we do recommend upgraded valve springs and retainers for any of the Stage 2 or higher cams to maintain stability and prevent any high RPM valve float.

HKS Hi-Power Camshaft Differences:
  • HKS Stage 1 Cams are designed to be used with fairly stock to moderately modified motors. These are great for street driven cars that need a broad powerband and stock driveability and idle.
  • HKS Stage 2 Cams are for weekend warriors and high powered street cars. These camshafts move the power band higher into the RPM range to allow big gains on motors with heavy flow mods. We recommend a full intake, exhaust, and header or turbo before using these cams. Upgraded valvetrain suggested for standard stage 2, required for use with stage 2 high lift.
  • HKS Stage 3 Cams give the largest power gains possible and make no compromises to do so. There is no hiding these cams once the car starts up, the idle is very rough. This cam set is not recommended for daily driven street cars, or cars with only minor modification. Built motors, bigger turbocharges, tuning, and other major modifications are what the Stage 3 Cams are designed for. Upgraded valvetrain required to take advantage of the high RPM potential of these camshafts.
Fitment Notes: On individually sold camshafts you can use different stages for the intake and exhaust to tailor the cams to your motor and modifications. On turbocharged vehicles using a higher stage on the exhaust side tends to increase power output while decreasing spool time. This may not be the case for all cars, it is best to consult your tuner before purchasing cams.

Tuning Notes: To ensure proper idle, air/fuel ratio, and peak performance, a tune is always recommended when upgrading to any HKS camshaft.
