A common issue with the stock turbo inlet on Subaru WRXs is that since it is made of plastic, it is prone to cracking. This is especially common as performance increases. With higher temperatures and higher demand, damage to the stock inlet is inevitable. COBB remedies this issue with their performance turbo inlet, which is made of cast aluminum and slightly oversized for smoother operation. The increase in diameter allows the turbo inlet to match the size of the turbo compressor housing. While improvements to airflow are made, COBB also add provisions for the stock or COBB's boost controller and threaded ports for factory-sized PCV and EVAP fittings..
