By mounting the tank high up in the engine compartment, you can be assured that your radiator will be a fully filled system with room for air expansion, thus reducing chances of overheating due to air-lock. Without a radiator breather tank, it is possible for air bubbles to develop inside your cooling system, which will inhibit the cooling ability of the system.
